Mr. Mpofu filed a complaint with the VMCZ over an article carried by the Southern Eye of 10 March, 2014 headlined: “Construction Industry Cries Foul”
Mr. Mpofu says that the news story contains a number of inaccuracies. He further claims he never made the statements attributed to him and neither did he provide the statistics cited in the article.
Mr. Mpofu wants an apology for the allegedly false information which he feels has also tarnished his image.

CIFOZ representative Mr. Tobias Moyo and the Southern Eye Deputy Editor Njabuloi Ncube appeared before the Media Complaints Committee. Mr. Moyo presented the case on behalf of Mr. Mpofu who felt that his statements had been misreprented by the paper and was therefore requesting an opportunity to air his side of the story.
Southern Eye Deputy Editor acknowledged the need to issue a clarification on the matter and this was published in the newspaper’s 25th April edition.
