Tag  a Life (TaLi), in partnership with Identities TV and supported by the Ministry of Information, Public and Broadcasting Services has recently launched a ‘My Freedom to Information’ campaign, following the repeal of the Access to Information and Protection of  Privacy Act (AIPPA).

My Freedom of  Information or The “new Bill”allows citizens and media practitioners to request and gain access to information from any governmental bodies. AIPPA which was formerly enacted for a similar reason but ended up limiting media practitioners in terms of media rights, journalistic rights,  right to access of information or protection of privacy.

TaLi is an organisation that serves to protect the rights of young girls and women with a particular focus on those from marginalized areas or financially disadvantaged communities where they tend to be less informed about such changes in the constitution much less understand how it affects them.

In light of the new media bill, TaLi is proud to launch this initiative because it widens the democratic space for the media.

With the MFoI initiative in place, it enables women and girls to participate and enjoy the freedoms allowed by this new and progressive law. In line with TaLi’s core business, the campaign aims to publicize and promote the new bill and encourages women and girls to fully utilise it.
