Zvishavane-Ngezi Member of Parliament (MP) John Holder filed a complaint with the MCC over an article published by The Mirror on 26th May 2016 headlined “Hard Times Fall on MP Holder”.
MP Holder complains that the whole article is not true. He states that he did not receive any court summons and none of his property was attached by the messenger of court as reported in the story.
He says he is also aggrieved as he was not given the right of reply in the article.
He is demanding an apology from the newspaper.

The Mirror in its response indicated that its reportage on the matter was based on court records whose existence the complainant allegedly acknowledged when he visited The Mirror newsroom two weeks earlier. The newspaper also restated the fact that it is not obliged to provide a right of reply in a court story. The complainant did not respond to the issues raised by The Mirror or pursue the complaint further.
