Taurai Demo lodged a complaint with the VMCZ over an article published in the Financial Gazette of 12-18 January 2012 headlined “Deputy Mayor buys stand in Zim Dollar”.
Mr Demo is aggrieved as he says the whole story is false.He says he has not bought any property from the City of Gweru in 2011 as claimed by the article. Mr Demo wants the newspaper to retract the whole story.

The MCC after receiving supporting documents from the Financial Gazette ruled that the Financial Gazette story was accurate as it was based on authentic council documents that the newspaper possessed. The committee however indicated that the council documents had mistakes and said the mistakes were not Financial Gazette’s fault
