Mr. Mswazi filed a complaint with the Media Complaints Committee over a news story published by The Mirror newspaper (15-22 May 2014).
Mswazi is aggrieved as he says that the story is false and damaging to his reputation as it suggests he was a witness in a fraud case involving Chiredzi journalist, Patrick Chitongo. Mr. Mswazi says he was never a witness in the matter and is demanding a retraction from The Mirror.

Walter Mswazi and The Mirror editor Garikai Mafirakureva and The Mirror Consultant Matthew Takaona appeared before the Media Complaints Committee.
Mr. Mswazi presented his case to the committee and demanded a retraction and apology from The Mirror.
The Mirror representatives argued that their reportage was simply a reflection of court proceedings and that this was therefore in line with professional journalistic standards.
The matter was resolved by consensus from both parties who agreed that there was no intention of malice on the part of The Mirror as the newspaper was guided by the professional dictates of journalism and was therefore fulfilling its professional obligations.
