Mutumbwa Mugabe and Partners brought to the VMCZ’s attention another complaint against the Daily News in which the publication carried a story headlined “Mutasa and Gumbo challenge Mugabe,” in its 4th March 2015 edition. In the complaint, the law firm says the story was incorrect in citing Mutumbwa, Mugabe and Partners as the former’s legal representatives. The law firm says it never represented the litigants in the matter.
Status: Resolved
Section Four of the Media Code of Conduct and Ethics which urges the media to take all reasonable steps to ensure they publish accurate information applies to this complaint. The case was resolved amicably following engagements between the two parties with the Daily News carrying out a correction and apology in its edition of March 5 2015.
