Estery Hapazari registered her complaint with the MCC over an article carried by The Mirror on 24-30 June 2016 headlined “Prominent Shurugwi businessman ordered to pay 4 beasts for adultery”.
The complainant stated that the newspaper erroneously reported that Daniel Hapazari, who is cited for adultery in the story, as the owner of a “well-known supermarket called Vital supermarket”.
The complainant stated that the correct position is that Daniel is an employee, and not owner, of the supermarket. She provided clarification that instead the proprietor is Itai Hapazari – adding that Itai and Daniel are brothers.
Hapazari was demanding a correction from The Mirror.
Status: Finalised
The Mirror newspaper clarified the correct position in its October 14-20, 2016 edition.
