Mr. Nemuramba filed a complaint with the VMCZ over a story published by the Chronicle newspaper on 8th July 2014 titled ‘Kombi driver hangs himself’.
Mr. Nemuramba expressed concern over publication of the image of the deceased kombi driver hanging from a tree.
Mr. Nemuramba felt that the Chronicle as a family newspaper did not attempt to protect those of a nervous disposition who might have been negatively affected by the publication.
He therefore requested that the Chronicle should in future protect people of nervous disposition by avoiding such pictures.

The VMCZ contacted the Chronicle and highlighted concerns raised by Mr. Nemuramba.
- The Chronicle Deputy Editor Innocent Madonko highlighted that the newspaper welcomes reader feedback in the interest of public accountability.
- Mr. Madonko acknowledged the need, and reinforced the Chronicle’s commitment, to taking into account professional, ethical journalistic standards and societal sensitivities when dealing with images, especially those that might be considered sensitive.
Mr. Madonko emphasized that going forward; the newspaper will give extra consideration to images published by the newspaper.
