Are you a journalist passionate about driving social change and promoting gender equality? The Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe invites journalists from across the country to participate in a transformative Training on Gender-Responsive Reporting.
Why Gender-Responsive Reporting?
Media plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions and driving societal transformation. This training will equip journalists with the tools, knowledge, and skills to:
- Integrate gender perspectives in their stories.
- Challenge stereotypes and promote gender equality.
- Amplify the voices of women, youth, and marginalized groups.
- Effectively report on gender-based violence, discrimination, and inequality.
Who Should Apply?
The training is open to:
- 35 years and below
- A journalist working in Zimbabwe and able to commit to attending the whole program and meeting the training requirements.
- Journalist with a proven experience and/or interest in gender issues
- Journalist with very good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
What to Expect?
The interactive training will cover:
- Gender-sensitive language and framing.
- Best practices for reporting on gender and development issues.
- Ethical considerations when covering sensitive topics like gender-based violence
- Strategies to ensure fair representation of all genders in media content.
Participants will also engage in practical exercises, case study analysis, and peer learning sessions to enhance their skills.
