Description of the project
The VMCZ is conducting an Investigative Journalism Fund to support Zimbabwean journalists to produce in-depth investigations on transnational organized crimes. A call was flighted requesting Media houses and individual journalists to pitch their story ideas and be considered for funding. It is against this background that VMCZ is therefore inviting applications from Investigative Journalism mentors who will be responsible for selecting the best pitches and mentoring journalists to produce well investigated in-depth articles.
Purpose of mentors
The Investigative Journalism Mentors will be responsible for
- selecting the best investigative journalism pitches received from applicants’
- guide the awarded journalists to plan, get credible sources, gather facts, analyze data and produce quality, well investigated and in-depth articles on transnational crimes.
- ensure that journalists adhere to journalistic ethics and professional conduct during their investigations.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Journalism/Media Studies/Communication Degree or equivalent
- A minimum of 10years of practice in journalism
- Demonstrated experience in training and/or mentorship of journalists.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Must be a person of high integrity, professionalism, assertiveness & innovation.
