Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe invites Zimbabwean journalists who have an interest or report on corruption and illicit financial flows to apply for the training.
About the programme
This specialised training is designed to equip journalists with the knowledge and tools needed to investigate and expose corruption, unethical practices, and the movement of illicit finances. Participants will learn:
- Techniques for identifying and tracking illicit financial flows.
- How to analyse financial data, documents, and contracts.
- Ethical approaches to reporting on sensitive financial investigations.
- Storytelling techniques to deliver impactful investigative pieces.
The training will feature interactive sessions, case study analysis, and practical exercises led by experienced investigative journalists and financial experts. Participants will also gain access to a network of peers and tools to support their investigative work.
VMCZ will select 20 journalists to participate in the training. This initiative encourages the participation of both male and female journalists to take part in the training.
Eligibility/ Requirements for applicants:
To apply for this training program, you must:
- Be a journalist working in Zimbabwe and able to commit to attending the whole program and meeting the training requirements.
- Have a proven experience and/or interest in reporting on corruption and illicit financial flows
- Have very good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Be someone who keeps on learning and reflecting on their own professional development.
